Suspilne confirm Ukraine’s participation in Eurovision 2025

As preparations get underway for Basel’s hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 next May, Ukraine’s national broadcaster, Suspilne become the latest to confirm their participation.

Ukraine to participate in Eurovision 2025

Currently there are no details regarding the method of selection that Suspilne will use to select Ukraine’s representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. However, the last time Ukraine selected their artist internally was 2009. Typically, Ukraine has opted for a live national final, with Vidbir being the popular format since 2016.

We are starting a new season of preparations for Ukraine’s Eurovision entry, this time in Basel, and we are preparing new surprises.

Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest

Vidbir was first used to select the country’s song and artist in 2016, which saw Jamala win in Stockholm, Sweden with ‘1944‘. Since their debut in 2003, Ukraine has qualified every year for the grand final, being the only country to have done so and has won the contest on three occasions. In their second year of participation, Ukraine took their maiden victory with Ruslana and the crowd pleasing, tribal anthem, ‘Wild Dances‘.

In 2022 Ukraine achieved their third victory for Kalush Orchestra and ‘Stefania‘. Last year it was the turn of alyona alyona and Jerry Heil to represent the nation with their entry, ‘Teresa and Maria’. After being drawn second in the running order, the pair finished 3rd with 453 points. The most points ever achieved from the number two spot in the running order.
