Slovenia to participate in Eurovision Song Contest 2025

After much deliberation following RTVSLO’s statement regarding the Malmö contest, Slovenia’s national broadcaster has confirmed its intention to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 taking place in Basel, Switzerland next May.

Following the closure of the initial deadline on Sunday for broadcasters to register their interest in participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, RTVSLO were quick to disclose their confirmation. Slovenia will announce more details in October in regards to the selection process for the representative taking to the stage in Basel, Switzerland next May. In recent years, RTVSLO have preferred an internal selection process.

“We inform all interested authors and performers that RTVSLO will publish in October 2024 the method of selection of the Slovenian representative for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest 2025, including the rules for participation and how the winning song will be selected.”

Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest

Slovenia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country since 1993, only missing a handful of contests since then. Their best result is 7th, achieved in both 1994 and 2001. Since the introduction of the Semi-Finals, Slovenia has had mixed results, only appearing in eight finals since 2004. Its highest finish in the Semi-Final era was in 2011, when Maja Keuc finished 13th with ‘No One’.

In 2024 RTVSLO internally selected Raiven with ‘Veronika’. During the Malmö contest Raiven advanced to the Grand Final and placed 23rd with 27 points.
