Simone Grande, an 11-year-old singer from Rozzano, has been chosen to represent Italy at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, set to take place in Madrid. Rai, the Italian national broadcaster, confirmed his selection following his win on the second season of The Voice Kids Italy last December.
Simone’s song for the contest, titled “Pigiama Party,” will be revealed at a later date. His victory on The Voice Kids and subsequent internal selection by Rai mark the second time the show has been used as a platform for choosing Italy’s Junior Eurovision representative. Last year’s contestants, Melissa and Ranya, who were finalists in the inaugural season of the talent show, represented Italy with “Un mondo giusto” and finished in 11th place.
Originally from Rozzano in the Metropolitan City of Milan, Simone started his artistic journey at the age of four with dance, inspired by his older sister Noemi. He later shifted his focus to singing and has been pursuing his passion ever since. Aside from music, Simone enjoys playing football, supporting his favorite team, Inter Milan, and spending time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes.
The announcement of Simone’s participation and the title of his song comes just two months before the 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Italy has been a consistent participant in the competition since its debut in 2014, when Vincenzo Cantiello brought home a victory with “Tu primo grande amore.” Simone now hopes to continue this legacy with his upcoming performance in Madrid.
