Ramires Sciberras has been chosen to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid with his song “Stilla Ċkejkna.” The young talent secured his spot by winning the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, held on September 21 at the TVM Studios in Tal-Pietà.
The national selection show, hosted by Melanie Kelly, featured 14 competing acts and guest performances from former Junior Eurovision participants Chanel Monseigneur (2020), Gaia Gambuzza (2022), and Yulan Law (2023). The decision was made through a combination of a professional jury vote (80%) and public voting (20%).
Ramires’s song “Stilla Ċkejkna,” which means “Little Star,” impressed both the jury and the public, earning him first place. The top three results were:
- Ramires Sciberras – “Stilla Ċkejkna” (Little Star)
- GRRLZ – “Grrlz”
- Emma Farrugia – “Summertime”
Ramires will now carry the Maltese flag at the 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place on November 16 in Madrid, Spain.
Malta has a strong history at Junior Eurovision, having won the contest twice before. Gaia Cauchi brought the country its first victory in 2013 with “The Start,” and Destiny Chukunyere followed up with another win in 2015 with “Not My Soul.” This year, Malta will be celebrating its 20th participation in the competition. Yulan Law represented Malta at Junior Eurovision 2023 with her song “Stronger,” finishing in 10th place with 94 points.
Well done to you You made Malta proud
