RTL have confirmed that roughly 60 artists have submitted applications to the upcoming Luxembourg Song Contest 2025 taking place at the Rockhal in Esch on January 25.
Luxembourg Song Contest 2025
Earlier this month, RTL opened submissions for the second edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025. Now the Luxembourgish has confirmed that around 60 artists applied for the national final. During the submission period, artists were able to submit up to five songs each. Therefore, the total number of songs received by RTL is estimated to be a figure between 60 and 300. This is down on the total received last year. However, the rules last year allowed songs to be submitted without artists assigned to them.
Once again the national final will take place at the Rockhal in Esch. On January 25 the selected finalists will compete in front of a live audience. During the televised final, the winner of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025 will be chosen through a combined public televote and international jury. They will represent the Grand Duchy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland next May.
Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest
This year, Tali represented Luxembourg at their first Eurovision final in 31 years. Luxembourg last participated in 1993 with Modern Times and ‘Donne-Moi Une Chance’. With five victories under their belt, the country withdrew due to financial and organisational reasons.
In 2023, RTL revealed their return to the competition. With a large national final in Esch-sur-Alzette, it was Tali who emerged victorious with her ‘Fighter’. In Malmö, she finished in thirteenth place. It is Luxembourg’s best result in 36 years, when Lara Fabian finished fourth with ‘Croire’.
