After confirming a new Head of Delegation to replace the outgoing Stig Karlsen, NRK are now ready to reveal the 9 acts that will competing in Melodi Grand Prix 2025 next month.
Nine acts participating in MGP 2025
Next month, NRK will televise the latest edition of its long-running national selection. It will return to a one-off live show for the first time since 2019. Melodi Grand Prix 2025 will be held in the Oslo Spektrum in the capital city on February 15. During a live press conference, NRK revealed the nine acts that will compete to represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland this May. The acts and their songs are as follows:
- Bobbysocks – ‘Joyful’
- Nora Jabri – ‘Sulale’
- LLL – ‘Parasite’
- Nataleen – ‘The Game’
- Sondrey – ‘Vagabond’
- Ladybug – ‘Hot as Hell in Paradise’
- Tone Damli – ‘Last Song’
- Kyle Alessandro – ‘Lighter’
- Wig Wam – ‘Human Fire’
Among the line-up are multiple former Eurovision representatives. Bobbysocks won the contest back in 1985 with, ‘La’ det swinge’. Also selected for the national final are glam-rock band Wig Wam who last represented Norway in 2005. As well as this, Sondrey, Nora Jabri and Tone Damli have past experience in the national final.
Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024
After three Semi-Finals and a nine-entry Final, Gåte emerged victorious in Melodi Grand Prix 2024 last year. During the Final, Gåte received a combined total of 250 points, six points more than runners-up KEiiNO with their song, ‘Damdiggida’. The winner was determined through the combined scores of the international jury (40%) and public televoting (60%).
At the Malmö contest, Gåte qualified from the second Semi-Final in 10th place. During the Grand Final, the gothic-folk entry, ‘Ulveham’ finished last in 25th place, scoring 16 points. In the process, extending Norway’s unwanted record of most last places to twelve.
