Tonight: 🇸🇮🇧🇪🇪🇸 Super Saturday season begins, with 3 finals and 3 more shows

Today is the first Super Saturday of the season, with three countries selecting their song throughout the night: Slovenia, Belgium and Spain. Three other selections will take place, with Sweden starting off Melodifestivalen, Lithuania continuing with its 4th heat of Eurovizija, and Latvia holding their unique semi-final of Supernova.

The show will be hosted by Raiven, who represented Slovenia last year (and competed in EMA in 2016, 2017 and 2019), and Štras.

EMA will use a two-round system, where only jurors will vote to choose the two best songs, which will go to an immediate superfinal.

In the superfinal, the show will switch to a full televote format, with the Slovenian televote selecting the winner.

20:55 CET, until 22:35 CET

  • Online, either on:
    • VRT Max (free account required, may be geo-locked)
    • Youtube (official Eurovision stream)

Eight songs will compete for the right to represent Belgium at Eurovision in Basel, in the following running order:

A classic 50/50 system will be used, with an equal split between the televote and a jury of 15 people. It is understood that the system will be similar to the 2023 edition, where each juror will give points, and where the televote will be split by percentage (20% of the televote would give 20% of the total televote points, the sum of which would be equal to the sum of all jury points).

22:00 CET, until 00:00 CET

  • Online, either on:
  • Physically, at the Palau Municipal d’Esports l’Illa de Benidorm, in Benidorm, Valencia

20:00 CET, until 21:30 CET

  • Online, on LTV1
  • Physically, at the Riga Film Studio

  • Online, either on:
  • Physically, at the LRT studios in Vilnius (where the show was pre-recorded on January 20)

Nine songs will compete in this fourth heat, competing for two spots in the final. They will perform in the following running order:

  1. Siga – “Walking with My Shadow
  2. Ustin – “You’re the One
  3. Godo Yorke – “<3 neparodai

As usual, LRT will use a 50/50 split of televote and jury to decide the scores. The rankings of the televote and jury will be turned into the classic Eurovision 2-to-8/10/12p (with nine songs competing, the song coming last for the jury or televote will get 2 points). Both scores will be combined, and any tie will be broken by giving advantage to the entry with the most jury points.

This tiebreaking rule was used to break a three-way-tie last week.

20:00 CET, until 21:30 CET

  • Online, on SVT Play
  • Physically, at the Coop Norrbotten Arena, in Luleå

Six songs will compete in the first heat of Melodifestivalen, competing for two DIRECT spots to the final (“direkt till finalen”).

  1. Albin Johnsén feat. Pa – “Upp i luften
  2. Maja Ivarsson – “Kamikaze Life

  4. Meira Omar – “Hush Hush
  5. Adrian Macéus – “Vår första gång
  6. Linnea Henriksson – “Den känslan

The evening will be hosted by Keyyo and Edvin Törnblom.

Melodifestivalen only uses the televote in its heats. The top two entries will qualify directly to the final (in five weeks), and the song coming in third position will go to the “Final qualification” wildcard round (the newest version of the “Andra chansen”/second chance round), which will take part directly after Heat 5, on March 1st.

With six shows spread over four hours, will you try to watch them all? What will you be watching in priority? Which performance do you expect the most? And most importantly, who do you think will win in Slovenia, Belgium and Spain? Tell us more in the comments below or on social media at @escxtra !
