As one of the favourites going into Vienna, Denmark’s national broadcaster DR is already looking ahead to the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 and the prospect of bidding to host should they win this year.
🇩🇰 Danish broadcaster preparing Eurovision 2027 bid
With the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final less than three weeks away, attentions have already turned towards next year and who might be interested in hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Currently, Denmark are second in the odds to win the contest in Vienna, Austria. Now, the Danish national broadcaster DR has declared interest in putting forward a host bid submission should they take home the crystal microphone for the fourth time.
Sensing that this is their best shot since Emmelie de Forest took victory in 2013 with ‘Only Teardrops’, the Danish Head of Delegation has confirmed to local media outlet Ekstra Bladet preliminary talks have begun.
“It’s very hubristic to start planning something like that. But we have to. So of course we have talked to some of the places in Denmark that can host such events, and talked about the possibility. But it’s all written in pencil, because anything can happen
But it would be really unfortunate to be completely clueless about what we should do if it ends with a Danish victory. So of course we will host it if we win. There are some who have asked if we want to. But of course we will, and of course there will also be somewhere that thinks it would be cool to put a framework in place if we end up in that situation.”
Erik Struve Hansen, (Head of Delegation Denmark)
This news comes after Finland’s two largest cities, Helsinki and Tampere also declared their interest in wanting to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
