Reviews

Malou Prytz - Bananas

Nathan W

Bananas is evidently an Ace Wilder song. The attitude is evident from the moment the track begins and it carries into the clip of the performance we’ve seen this week. What we can’t be sure of yet is quite how comfortable Malou is in this Ace Wilder meets Olivia Rodrigo type role, instead of the pure pop girl role she’s played so far in her career.

Robin Bengtsson - Innocent Love

Sami (12pts)

In my opinion, “Innocent Love” is not Robin Bengtsson’s best Melodifestivalen entry, but that’s only because his catalogue is so strong. However, Robin is definitely one to watch for in this year’s Melodifestivalen. It has the Swedish quality that we can expect every year, but also comes across very genuine and has very positive message and mood. I would be very happy to see this in Turin!

Dan (12pts)

For me, it will take a lot for anything to come close to his 2016 entry ‘Constellation Prize’ – however, this could quite possibly be my second favourite of his attempts at Mello. The throwback to the 80s sound is a trend that’s currently doing very well in modern chart music and I expect this to go down very well with the audience. It’s anthemic, feel good and suited to Robin’s voice. He also seems very comfortable performing this, something I can’t say the same about his previous attempt.
