The viral interval act of the first semi-final of Eurovision 2025, “Made in Switzerland”, has now been released on music platforms. The song, performed by 2025 hosts Sandra Studer and Hazel Brugger with a guest appearance from Petra Mede (host of Eurovision 2013, 2016 and 2023), had reached over a million views on Youtube.
“Made in Switzerland”, like the Internet or ESC
The interval act from the first semi-final showcased some of the many inventions made in Switzerland, including the Swiss Army knife, muesli, LSD, cellophane, the electric guitar, and of course the Eurovision Song Contest itself. Petra Mede appeared as “William Tell”, in a rewritten history of the contest in which Mede/Tell created Eurovision to unite a disunited “Helvetia”.
The act, composed by Lukas Hobi and written by Christian Knecht (who appeared as Einstein during the performance), was in line with some of the most beloved interval acts of the last few years, focusing both on the host country and on Eurovision. It can be placed in the same kind of category as “Swedish Smörgåsbord” (2013 Grand Final interval), “Story of ESC” (2016 Semi-Final 2 opening act), “Love Love, Peace Peace” (2016 Grand Final interval act) or “We just love Eurovision too much” (2024 Semi-Final 2 interval act), keeping with the musical-style genre.
Now, the song has been uploaded in released on music platforms, with an additional karakoe track (which keeps the vocals of the “Helvetia” choir). You can find the Spotify edition below:
