Despite the absence of Eurovision alumni in the line-up, a few runners-up from previous editions will try to get the ticket to Vienna, after finishing second in 2022 (Lolita Zero), 2024 (Shower) and 2025 (Lion Ceccah).
No “centralised” release of the songs themselves is expected, as has been the usual case in Lithuania over the last few years. Some of the entries have already been released, while others may be heard for the first time during the selection shows themselves. The final versions of the song will have to be sent to LRT by 23 December.
A revised format for 2026
Eurovizija.LT and its previous incarnations of the last few years (Pabandom iš naujo between 2020 and 2023, Eurovizijos Atranka before that) is one of the longest-running national selection, with the 2025 competition spread over six shows (but with some editions having seven shows in the past).
The show will start filming on 14 January, with the qualifications heats pre-recorded before broadcast. Between five and six heats are expected to take place, “depending on the number of entries”, but with 40 entries just like last year, a similar number of five heats seems likely.
LRT will abandon classic televote voting and will instead use online voting for the public, alongside juries. The top two songs of each heat will go to the Final, with any tie now broken by giving preference to the song with the highest public vote. As for the entries ranked third, they will go through a new wildcard round, with one of them joining the final show after a separate, 100% online vote.
The final will take place on 27 February, a Friday, with the winner chosen through the classic jury/online vote combination, without any “Super Final” round this time.
Last year, winners Katarsis won both the jury and public vote, topping the first round of the final, before beating the two other super-finalists in full televote round. They ended up qualifying from the Eurovision second semi-final in Basel, and finished 16th in the Grand Final.

I guess, some of our established artists boycotted the national selection because it’s a ridoculous and old-fashioned format with way too many fillers promised ahead. The fact that there is going to stay this one country might be a factor as well. I mean, Silvester Belt was pretty vocal about it and he discourage Jessica Shy to take a shot, for example. Nevertheless, this year line-up looks wayyy weak and, before any song is released, our best try is Lolita Zero. If we’re going to waste a year, why not make it provocative?
Well it has to be Lion ceccah this song is brilliant and very haunting. I really cant stop listening to it. I really believe if this song gets through it might even get top 4 in the final its that good. Good luck anyway on whoever is chosen!
And now the silver lion can go on and WIN Eurovision 2026!!!!!!!!!!
