Supernova 2026: Semi-Final 2 results

Tonight, LTV the Latvian national broadcaster has revealed the five acts advancing from Semi-Final 2 of its Eurovision 2026 selection Supernova 2026.

A total of 12 acts took part in the second Semi-Final of Supernova 2026. The live show commenced on February 7. LTV has now confirmed the five qualified acts, who are as follows:

  • Atvara
  • Legzdina
  • Krisy
  • Robert Ox
  • Miks Galvanovskis

These join the five acts who qualified from the first Semi-Final:

  • De Mantra
  • Elpo
  • Emilija
  • Kautkaili
  • Tikasha Sakama

LTV/LSM announced last year that the selection would return to a format of two Semi-Finals, with twelve entries in each show, with only the top five of each night qualifying to the Grand Final, thanks to a combination of jury and public vote. This would mean ten entries in the final, although LTV/LSM may send an eleventh song in through a wildcard, in agreement with the jury.

The Grand Final will also feature the classic mix of jury and televote, with both votes being summarised as rankings and used in the Eurovision-style system of points: the winner of each vote will receive 12 points, the runner-up, 10, etc. The song with the most points will win the competition and the right to represent Latvia in Austria. In the event of a tie, a scenario that happened in 2025; the song with the best public score will win.

The semi-finals will take place on 31 January and 7 February, with the Final on Valentine’s Day, 14 February. This Valentine’s Day will be a Super Saturday, with finals in Latvia, Estonia and Denmark, as well as Heats in Lithuania and Sweden. And in addition to that, it will also be in the middle of a Winter Olympics week-end, although no medal events should be taking place after 21:00 CET that day.

Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Since obtaining independence, Latvia has featured in the Eurovision Song Contest a total of 25 times. The Baltic nation debuted in the 2000 contest where they placed third with ‘My Star’ by the band Brainstorm. They quickly followed up this impressive start with their first and to date, only win in 2002 with Marie N’s, ‘I Wanna’.

However, what followed was a rocky path for the Latvian Eurofans. Their taste for the quirky and alternative of the music scene, failed to appeal to the wider Eurovision audience. With two non-qualification streaks lasting six contests each. Overall Latvia has made the Grand Final on 12 occasions. Featuring in the top 10 in only four contests.

Last year, it was the turn of folk group, Tautumeitas to fly the Latvian flag in Basel. During the Grand Final, the all-female collective and their entry, ‘Bur man laimi’ finished 13th place with 158 points. Bringing a lot of happiness with the highest placement for Latvia since Aminata achieved sixth in 2015.
