Ireland’s Eurosong 2024 Selection: Anticipation Builds for January 8th Reveal

Ireland is gearing up for an exciting start to the new year with the revelation of the songs vying for the coveted spot in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

According to Éirevision and various sources, the Eurosong 2024 entries will be unveiled starting January 8th, setting the stage for a highly anticipated national selection process.

Approximately 380 entries were submitted to RTÉ, showcasing Ireland’s diverse musical talent. From this extensive list, only six songs have been shortlisted to compete in the national final. This selective process involved a jury, including the Head of Delegation and other experts, who meticulously listened to each submission.

These six chosen entries will be revealed on the Ray D’Arcy Show, broadcasted on RTÉ Radio 1, between 16:00 and 17:30 CET, starting from January 8. The daily reveals are expected to add an element of excitement and anticipation among Eurovision fans and the general public alike.

While detailed information about the format of the selection process for Eurosong 2024 remains under wraps, it is speculated that RTÉ will follow its tradition of hosting a live final, likely on The Late Late Show. This format has been a hallmark of the Irish selection process in recent years and is expected to continue.

Ireland’s recent participation in Eurovision has been marked by close calls and heightened aspirations. In 2023, the Irish act Wild Youth, with their song “We Are One”, narrowly missed a spot in the Grand Final, finishing 12th in their semi-final. This outcome has only fueled the nation’s desire to make a significant comeback in the upcoming contest.

The selected song will represent Ireland in Malmö, Sweden, where the Eurovision 2024 is set to take place. The semi-finals are scheduled for May 7th and 9th, with the grand final on May 11th. Ireland, along with several other participating countries, is eager to leave a memorable mark in this prestigious international music event.

As Ireland prepares to unveil its Eurosong 2024 contenders, the anticipation is palpable. Will this be the year Ireland replicates the success of past victories like Linda Martin in 1992? Only time will tell, but the excitement is certainly building.
