Eurovision 2024 stage construction is completed!

Tomorrow, the first rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 at the Malmö Arena will take place. Ahead of this, SVT has revealed the finalised version of the stage design that the 37 acts will perform on.

The Malmö stage in action

As we previously learned, this year SVT has opted for a unique, 360-degree stage in the shape of a 186sq m cross for Eurovision 2024. This will give scope and opportunities to show creativity in staging unlike anything we have seen before! To facilitate this, the staging team have included 5 moveable LED cubes at 460 sq m, LED screens around the venue adding up to 1000sq m, LED flooring and a 34sq m LED backdrop, as well as 2,186 lighting fixtures and video technology.

This contributes to 204 tonnes of weight that will be suspended from the Malmö Arena ceiling. All the technical equipment in the ceiling will move using a 196 variable speed hoist.

An additional 36 crew members will be on hand to assist the 6-person stage management team during all of the three live shows. These people will help with set design for each act and will carefully choreograph the movement of all set structures and props onto and off the stage. They will have 55 seconds (an increase of the previous 40 seconds), between each of the 37 acts.
