What’s next for the United Kingdom?

No more “has beens”

Engelbert Humperdinck, Bonnie Tyler… the only time the “let’s call a big name” approach “worked” was with Blue – but again: Blue were younger and bolder than 76 year old Engelbert and 62 year old Bonnie Tyler. They were big way back – and they are still big names – but they are not relevant anymore.
The United Kingdom is the second main exporter of music. So it’s unlikely that people are not appreciative of the country’s musical culture.
Also: it has been proven by many artists that having a big name on stage doesn’t bring the contest towards victory. Sweden sent The Ark, came 17th. Engelbert was 25th. Bonnie 19th. Do I need to say more?

Let’s rejoice Saint Cliff of the Podium
