Just last week, following the EBU confirming their participation, Kazakhstan stated they will use a national final to pick their first entrant. Details of their selection are now known.
Submission window closes on August 31
Individuals potentially interested in representing Kazakhstan have until August 31st to submit their entry. Khabar Agency also outlined the following rules :
- No more than 6 people can participate in a performance on stage and must be aged between 9 and 14
- Songs may not exceed 3 minutes of length
- Lyrics ought to be in Kazakh. However, English is allowed provided it does not exceed 40% of the text.

Televised national final
At the closing of the submission window, Khabar Agency will select the finalists through jury vote. Afterwards, the final stage of the selection will consist in a televised broadcast to determine the country’s first ever representative at a Eurovision-related event. At the moment, the number of songs that will participate in the national final is unknown.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018
Belarus’s capital Minsk will be the host of the 2018 edition of Junior Eurovision. This is the second time the event takes place in the city, who previously hosted it in 2010. A record-breaking 19 countries will participate in Minsk on November 25 and they are:
- FYR Macedonia
- The Netherlands
Wales and Kazakhstan will both make a debut with Kazakhstan participating for the first time to any Eurovision related event. Besides, the contest will also feature three returning countries: France, that last participated in 2004, Azerbaijan that last participated in 2013 and Israel that last participated in 2016.
