My round up of the 2020 Eurovision season

What the rest of the 2020 season would’ve looked like for me?

After I attended Melodifestivalen, this is where the course of the 2020 season took a different direction. However, me not thinking about it much continued on making plans (as with the most of the Eurovision fandom.)

If everything went according to plan, I would’ve been attending my third Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam. I would have also been taking on a challenge (which I may or may not be taking in 2021, so stick around). In addition, I would’ve been attending my fourth London Eurovision Party and my second Pre-Party ES.

Of course, who could forget Rotterdam, I would have attended my fourth Eurovision ever!, with a ticket package that would’ve allowed me to attend the Grand Final once again. However, fate has other plans for us.

How did I react to the cancellation of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest?

When the announcement came that the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled, I did have mixed emotions. Like most Eurovision fans, I felt gutted. However, I have my peace with it. Considering that everyone’s health is important, I understood the complexity of the situation and just let it be.

What have I been up to since March?

Since the cancellation of the contest, I’ve been doing a lot of things to pass the time. To start off, I did buy the merch. (I needed to have something to remember the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest by). I did spend what I would have been paying in overpriced Euroclub drinks.

In addition to that, along with the Eurovision fans, I have been watching past Eurovision contests, through the #EurovisionAgain series, which is still running once a month at the time of writing. I’ve also joined a Podcast. The ‘That Eurovision Podcast‘, where we just talk about the contests, or the participating countries, which have been fun doing.

In addition, being a member of the Twitter Eurovision fandom, you could not get away, without participating in the fan contests (which I’ve done once.) However, for me the thing that made it is, I joined a Eurovision ranking group. If you follow me on Twitter, then you already know what it is!

However, the most important thing in the world. I got to spend some quality time with my family. This is something I have been happy, as we got to do a lot of things, like cooking and just being able to hang out with them.

Up until the season is up and running again, I will probably be continuing with my other Eurovision hobbies, as well as reporting to you, the readers, over here at ESCXTRA.

What I’m looking forward to for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest season?

With the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, just around the corner, there is a few things I am looking forward to doing once again. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) being able to attend events once again be it through the regular events in London (e.g. Eurofest) or through the yearly events (e.g. Pre-Parties or National Finals). Personally, I do understand the reluctance. However, I am remaining optimistic that these events will push through in 2021.

With the contest itself, I am very grateful that my ticket package for the 2021 contest has been rolled over, and I am optimistic that I will be able to attend the contest in person in Rotterdam. For the artists themselves, my personal top three (VICTORIA, Vincent Bueno & Montaigne), will all be returning, and I am eager to see what their new entries will be.

For now, from me and the ESCXTRA team, I would just like to say, Thank You for all of your support. We hope that we are able to provide you with one of the best coverage of the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
