Italian broadcaster Rai officially announced that the Sanremo festival will have an audience in 2021. This makes Sanremo the first show of the 2021 national final season to announce that the shows with having an audience at the event. Rai also announced rules to keep everyone at the event safe. More will be revealed closer to the competition in March!
Unless there are surprises the festival will take place at the beginning of March!
Sanremo will have an audience and press attending the event in reduced numbers for the 2021 edition. This is what Rai announced this week at a press conference. The exact numbers will be determined and announced closer to the show. If there are no surprises, the Sanremo festival will take place from March 2nd till 6th. Due to COVID-19, the show was pushed back from its original dates at the beginning of February.
To make this event as safe as possible, Sanremo will take place with all safety restrictions that will be in place when the show takes place. It was announced that temperatures of everyone attending will be taken at the entrance to ensure, nobody is sick.
Rai is yet to confirm the participation for Eurovision 2021. In 2020 Diodato won the Sanremo Festival and was selected to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Fai Rumore”. It is unknown, if Diodato will be internally selected to represent Italy in 2021 or if the new representative will be found during Sanremo in case the country will take part in Eurovision 2021.
