Today the Finnish broadcaster Yle revealed that Finnish pop star Antti Tuisku will host UMK21, Finland’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
“This is a big honor!”
Antti Tuisku is one of Finland’s biggest pop stars. He first gained fame after taking part in Finnish Idol in 2003. Since then he has released twelve studio albums.
Antti Tuisku says hosting UMK is a big honor and privilege for him. This is the first time since 2016 when Krista Siegfrids will not host the contest. This is also the first time Antti is hosting a show like this.
Yle promises that there will be more than one interval act performed by Antti himself. Over on Instagram, he has been teasing possible collaboration with Erika Vikman, who finished second in UMK last year.
Antti says that he doesn’t rule out taking part in Eurovision Song Contest himself.
I am by no means saying that I could never take part in Eurovision as an artist. However, it should happen in a year when I could focus on it completely and that would be the most important thing at that moment.

The tenth edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu will take place on February 20 at 20:00 CET. Seven artists will compete and the Finnish public together with international juries will choose Finland’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The televote will have more power this year than previously. Juries will only give out 25 percent of the points.
The seven contestants who are taking part are Ilta, Laura, Oskr, Teflon Brothers x Pandora, Aksel, Danny and Blind Channel. Mikko Silvennoinen will serve as the Finnish commentator of the show while Katri Norrlin and Jani Kareinen will be the English commentators.
