🇬🇧 Helena Paparizou, Miki NĂșñez and Fyr og Flamme among OGAE Song Contest 2021 participants

OGAE UK has revealed the full list of entries that will take part in this year’s OGAE Song Contest in Cardiff. It will be the the third time in a row that the contest has been organised by OGAE UK. The UK has had much success in the contest recently with Steps, Lewis Capaldi and Dua Lipa all winning the contest.

Since the first contest in 1986, many major music stars have won including Coldplay, Steps, Dami Im, Alizée and Nina Zilli. Any country with an OGAE club can take part in the contest as well as one other country, competing as “Rest of the World”. In the past, countries like Botswana, Japan and Colombia have take part as a guest country.

Who’s taking part?

29 countries are taking part in this year’s contest, including returnees Armenia and Andorra – who return after a one-year break – and Austria – who last took part in 2012. Malta have withdrawn from this year’s contest.

Many past Eurovision stars are taking part including Helena Paparizou (Greece 2001 & 2005), Miki Núñez (Spain 2019), Fyr og Flamme (Denmark 2021), Sirusho (Armenia 2008), Benjamin Ingrosso (Sweden 2018), among many others.

The running order for the contest was drawn randomly, ahead of the show:

  5. 🇭🇷 Croatia: Damir Kedžo – ”Nedodirljiva”
  6. 🇭🇺 Hungary: Honeybeast & Palya Bea – “Ha Meghalok”
  7. 🇦🇹 Austria: Josh. – “Expresso & Tschianti”
  8. 🇸🇪 Sweden: Benjamin Ingrosso – “Flickan på min gata”
  9. 🇷🇸 Serbia: Zoi – “Jasno mi je”
  10. 🇺🇦 Ukraine: TOBIZDA – “Ya hochu trampapa”
  11. 🇺🇸 Rest of the World (United States): Kali Uchis – “Telepatía”
  12. 🇱🇻 Latvia: Ivo Fomins – “Diena vai nakts”
  13. 🇮🇪 Ireland: Eimear Quinn – “Hibernia”
  14. 🇮🇹 Italy: Takagi & Ketra ft. Marco Mengoni and Frah Quintale – “Venere e Marte”

  24. 🇬🇧 United Kingdom: Joel Corry ft. MNEK – “Head and Heart”
  25. 🇲🇰 North Macedonia: Lara  – “Za nas”
  26. 🇪🇸 Spain: Miki Núñez – “Me vale”
  27. 🇩🇰 Denmark: Fyr og Flamme – “Kamæleon”
  28. 🇩🇪 Germany: Michelle – “Vorbei Vorbei”
  29. 🇸🇮 Slovenia: Maraaya – “Dobr’ Gre”

Voting will be run through each of the competing OGAE clubs, with voting closing on 18 October. You can listen to a playlist of all the songs below:

OGAE Song Contest 2019

Last year, the United Kingdom won the OGAE Song Contest for the third time in a row. With 213 points, Dua Lipa was victorious with her smash hit “Physical”. Pastora Soler & Blas Cantó finished in second place with “Mi luz”, representing Spain.

The UK have now ruled victorious for several years, becoming the most successful country in the contest. Could another country finally win the contest this year?
