New Music Friday – this week with KEiiNO, Tamta, Iveta Mukuchyan & more!

Ten of the best new songs from Eurovision artists!

Ilse DeLange – ‘Don’t Hold Back’

Not more than a few days ago, The Netherlands dropped the shock announcement that S10 will represent the country in Turin next May. Once again Ilse DeLange was part of the internal panel, now she returns with new music of her own. Still staying true to the sound that gave Ilse DeLange, as part of The Common Linnets, second place in 2014, ‘Don’t Hold Back’ is not holding back on the country blues. As part of a Christmas advert for supermarket chain PLUS, this track is a thank you to the silent acts of kindness in the world.

When I saw the images, they immediately appealed to me. There are so many people who do so much good for others and it is nice that they are ‘seen’, because often they are much too modest for that themselves. So I thought, I’m trying to do something of a tribute to these kind of good-doers! First I made the music for the commercial, because we always have to wait and see whether what you make will be chosen! Super happy when I heard that my piece of music had been chosen. But then I still had to make a whole song from those 60 seconds before the commercial. So I looked up my friends Matthew Crosby and Matthijs van Duijvenbode for that. Together we made a very nice song.

Vanilla Ninja – ‘Waterfalls’

Until 2019, Vanilla Ninja’s eighth place was Switzerland’s best Eurovision result this century. Still going strong 20-years after their formation, Estonia’s most famous girlband are back to their ethereal roots having released latest album, Encore. The latest in a string of hits, is ‘Waterfalls’. With impressive use of the Linnahall, Lenna’s vocal fills the room as the ladies take us through a cascading waterfall of heart-break in this rock-chick anthem.

LIAMOO, Klara Hammarström – ‘Make A Wish’

Despite the fact that LIAMOO and Klara Hammarström are returning to Melodifestivalen 2022 separately, both Swedish stars know that Christmas and New Music Friday, is a time for giving. So of course, the two have combined on this duet, to share an early festive treat. With LIAMOO’s smooth RnB vocal and Klara’s pop sound, together they embrace the traditions of the holiday season we know and love, with a modern twist.
