16 songs qualify to the final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022

One more act will join the final after public vote

After yesterday’s semi-final, sixteen songs have qualified to the final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The result was announced today as part of a special event of the contest, where we saw performances by this year’s contestants and Malta’s former Eurovision representatives.

  • Sarah Bonnici – Heaven
  • Matt BLXCK – Come Around
  • Denise – Boy
  • Norbert – How Special You Are
  • Raquel – Over You
  • Mark Anthony Bartolo – Serenity
  • Baklava Ft Nicole – Electric Indigo
  • Aidan – Ritmu
  • Janice Mangion – Army
  • Nicole Hammett – A Lover’s Heart
  • Nicole Azzopardi – Into the Fire
  • Richard Edwards – Hey Little
  • Giada – Revelación
  • Emma Muscat – Out of Sight
  • Miriana Conte – Look What You’ve Done Now

Twenty-two songs competed in the semi-final and sixteen were voted through. One more song will make it to the final after the Maltese public can vote for a wildcard from the eliminated acts.

The final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022 takes place tomorrow, on February 19th. The winner will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. Malta is set to compete in the second semi-final of the contest on May 12th. Malta will perform on the first half of the show.

It has been a bumpy ride for Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest over the past years. Last year Destiny brought the island to the final with “Je me casse” and finished seventh in the grand final. Also in 2019 the country qualified to the final when Michela represented Malta with “Chameleon“. However, the country failed to qualify in 2017 and 2018.
