The winner will be determined by a combination of an international jury, domestic jury and public vote. As with last year, a panel will be commenting after each act, however this panel will not be scoring the participants.

Oof, Ireland… Credit where credit is due, this national final is giving us a variety of genres this year. Sadly though, it all still feels a bit like different tones of beige. Now, Connolly is a very pleasant surprise. This young songstress has a Billie Eilish/Lorde kind of vibe over her and her music. It’s laid back, it’s easy to listen to and could be a good radio song. And that’s where the issues lie… I have no idea how you’re going to stage this without making it Molly Sterling levels of boring. Ireland, this is your best bet, results wise… if you can stage it well. A talent like Connolly deserves it.

Ever since I first listened to this masterpiece, I fell in love (and it is only a demo!). It sounds like a London Grammer song with influences from Lorde and Billie Eilish but still at the same, it sounds so uniquely Irish. As an Irish eurofan, I would be beyond proud if this would be chosen to represent us at Eurovision. It is incredible how well produced “Midnight Summer Night” is, and even more so when you realise that Jennifer is the only person who has worked on the song. The lyrics highlight how still time can pass and how numb and overwhelmed you can feel during a heavy and traumatising event. As for staging, I need intimacy, I need darkness, I need stars and I hope Jennifer can deliver something that focuses on her as the main character of the song. It’s no secret that I’m rooting for CONNOLLY in Eurosong! Let’s send her to Liverpool!
