Sixteen finalists selected for Malta Eurovision Song Contest

Malta have selected the finalists for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Sixteen acts remain hopeful of getting the ticket to Eurovision in Liverpool.

Favourites survive the cut in Malta

There were no real shocking non-qualifiers following Malta’s semifinal on Thursday. Hot favourite Brooke with her song “Checkmate” survived the semi, as did former Eurovision entrant Fabrizio Faniello. Junior Eurovision star Eliana Gomez Blanco has also made the cut into tonight’s show. Earlier, Malta already trimmed down their selection from 39 down to 24.

The following sixteen songs remain for Malta. The order below is the order they performed in during the semifinal:

  • Fabrizio Faniello – “Try To Be Better”
  • Eliana Gomez Blanco – “Guess What”
  • Dan – “It’ll Be OK”
  • Ian – “On My Own”
  • Ryan Hili – “In The Silence”
  • Cheryl Balzan – “La La Land”
  • Nathan – “Creeping Walls”
  • Chris Grech – “Indescribable”
  • Brooke – “Checkmate”
  • Christian Arding – “Eku Ċar”
  • Geo Debono – “The Mirror”
  • The Busker – “Dance (Our Own Party)”
  • Maxine Pace – “Alone”
  • Giada – “I Depend On You”
  • Stefan – “Heartbreaker”
  • Matt Blxck – “Up.”

André, Greta Tude, Mark Anthony Bartolo, Dario Bezzina, Klinsmann, Bradley Debono, Mikhail and the duet of Dominic & Anna have therefore been eliminated. The final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place tonight (11th February).
