The Reviews

Nick
Yeah, Italy keep sending male singers. And yes, Italy usually take quite a safe route. And “Due Vite” is both of those: A safe, Italian ballad by a male singer. But… let’s not underestimate how powerful that combination is. Marco Mengoni could sing a phone book and it would still be pretty marvellous. This song is just elevated by how he delivers it. Italian is a gorgeous language for a ballad… so Italy, I’d be happy for you to just take the safe route once again and pick this brilliant ballad.

Marco Mengoni holds a very big place in my heart. Marco deserves all the success he receives in Italy and further afield. He has never missed and “Due Vite” would be a phenomenal addition to the 2023 contest. The song has modern production and a beautiful melody. It explores peaks and valleys by use of percussion and along with all of this, Marco is a beautiful talent. It is true that Italy have so many options but this would be a worthy winner.
