Benidorm Fest 2024 details
These artists were chosen from 825 submissions to RTVE earlier this year. This was a record for the number of entries received, meaning that the artists above were all chosen through a very competitive process.
The first semi-final of Benidorm Fest will take place on January 30, 2024. The second semi-final will be two days later on February 1, 2024. The top 4 songs will advance from each semi-final. The finale will be on February 3, 2024, where Spain will decide, from the eight participants in the final, which one will represent them in Sweden in May.
The results of the festival in both the semi-finals and the final will be decided through a combination of public votes, a demoscopic jury, and an expert jury.
Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest
Spain has participated continuously in Eurovision since 1961, with only the United Kingdom having a longer unbroken streak of participation. They have won Eurovision on 2 occasions, in 1968 with Massiel’s ‘La La La’ and in 1969 as one of the 4 winners in the 4-way tie that year. Among all of the countries that have won the contest at least once, Spain has the longest ‘victory drought’, having not won for 55 years.
The entry chosen at Benidorm Fest 2024 will be their 63rd entry to Eurovision. It will follow recent entries such as Chanel’s bronze medal with ‘SloMo’ in 2022, and last year’s entrant Blanca Paloma, who came 17th with ‘Eaea’. Upon achieving this result, a Spanish entry has placed at some point at least once in every position from 1st through to 26th.
