Dame Joanna Lumley is the United Kingdom spokesperson for Eurovision 2024

"Douze points from the United Kingdom goes to!"

Tonight, during the broadcast of BBC’s The One Show it was confirmed that Dame Joanna Lumley will be the spokesperson reading out the votes live for the United Kingdom in the Grand Final at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 on Saturday May 11.

Who is Dame Joanna Lumley?

During tonight’s episode of The One Show, legendary commentator for the UK broadcast, Graham Norton, confirmed that Dame Joanna Lumley is taking on the important role of announcing the UK’s votes. Joanna Lumley first came to fame on the silver screen in the 1970s, starring in The New Avengers. Since then, Joanna became a household comedy name for her outrageous performance as Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous. In 2018 Joanna received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the EBU’s Rose d’Or Awards. As well as her acting career, Joanna is a well-known activist and charity campaigner.

I am delighted to be announcing the jury vote for the UK at this year’s Eurovision. It’s such a fabulous honour to give the iconic ‘douze points’!

In previous years, the United Kingdom has had its slew of famous spokespeople announcing the UK’s ‘douze points’, including Nigella Lawson, Cheryl Baker, AJ Odudu, Richard Osman and Catherine Tate. Joanna will follow in their footsteps on Saturday May 11th during the Grand Final broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

So far, a total of 15 spokespeople have been confirmed of the 37 competing countries. These include famous names from media and television in the respective nations, as well as familiar faces from Eurovision past and present to the fans watching at home. The list is as follows:

  •  Netherlands – Nikkie de Jager
  •  Poland – Viki Gabor (JESC 2019)
  •  Slovenia – Lorella Flego
  •  Spain – Soraya Arnelas (2009)
  •   Switzerland – Jennifer Bosshard
