The Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held annually since 2003, reached its 2024 edition in Madrid, Spain. With 17 countries participating, Georgia triumphed for the fourth time, cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in the competition. Twelve-year-old Andria Putkaradze performed “To My Mom,” an emotional ballad celebrating maternal love, earning 239 points to secure the win. The song, composed by Giga Kukhianidze and Maka Davitaia, won votes from both the jury and online voters.
Junior Eurovision showcases performers aged 9 to 14, each representing their country with an original three-minute song. A mix of online public voting and national jury scores determines the winner, with the ability for viewers to vote for their own country’s entry. Georgia’s latest victory makes it the most successful country in the contest’s history, surpassing the previous three-time winners.
Portugal achieved its best-ever result, finishing second with 213 points for Victoria Nicole’s bilingual song “Esperança.” Ukraine followed in third with Artem Kotenko’s “Hear Me Now,” amassing 203 points. The host nation, Spain, came in sixth, while Malta and France rounded out the top five.
