However, it was 14-year-old Lottie O’Driscoll Murray from Cork that became the overall winner. Now Lottie has released the music video for her Irish language entry, ‘Rúin’.
The ballad, ‘Rúin’ (Secrets) was written and composed by Ian James White, Jenny Ní Ruiséil and Nicky Brennan. Ian and Nicky worked together previously on the Irish entry for JESC 2024.
Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Back in 2015, the Emerald Isle made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Aimee Banks and her song, ‘Réalta na mara’ finishing in twelfth place. So far, the Irish nation have only made the top 10 on two occasions. In 2022 Ireland achieved their best result to date. Sophie Lennon and her Celtic anthem, ‘Solas’ earned fourth place with 150 points.
Last year, Ireland selected national final winner, Enya Cox Dempsey to represent the country with ‘Le chéile’. During the Madrid contest, Enya achieved 15th place with 55 points.
