She won the televote representing the United Kingdom in Yerevan, Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and now she’s set her sights stateside by charting in the Billboard Top 100 with her new song Silent Treatment, entering the chart at 98.
From Heartbreak to chart-breaker
Silent Treatment; written by Skye herself alongside Max Margolis and Sophie Alexandra Tweed-Simmons and produced by Max Margolis, J Moon, Adam Hawkins and Chris Gehringer, the song forms part of her new EP “stardust” under Hollywood Records.
The record is an anthem about being ghosted by a former lover and having a relationship end without proper closure. These two lyrics really highlight Freya’s sense of being abandoned:-
“I got my hopes too high
You hardly said goodbye
Then casually walked out of my life”
“Oh we don’t
Talk anymore, talk anymore, talk anymore
Gave me the silent treatment
The least you could have done was gimme a reason”
You can listen to the song below.
Breakout Star!
After Yerevan, Freya has been busy! She starred in the Canadian production ‘The Next Step’, then made her Disney debut with ‘Zombies 4: Dawn of Vampires’ garnering her a dedicated fanbase, so much so she’s currently on her world tour ‘Stars Align Tour’ selling out venues in her native United Kingdom as well as North America, Europe and Australia. Touring is not new to her having already being part of the ‘Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour’, a crossover Disney franchise tour.
United Kingdom in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Back in 2003, the United Kingdom took part in the inaugural Junior Eurovision Song Contest. After two top 3 results and a 14th place, the nation took an extended break from the contest for 17 years. Their best result came in 2004 with second place for Cory Spedding and, ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’.
In 2022, the United Kingdom internally selected Freya Skye to represent the country with ‘Lose My Head’. During the Yerevan contest, Freya achieved fifth place with 146 points winning the televote in the process. She was succeeded by girl group Stand Uniqu3 with their song “Back To Life” who did one better than Freya in Paris with a 4th Place finish. BBC then withdrew in 2024 and again didn’t return for 2025.
