Helena Paparizou speaks out after rejecting “Fuego”

Back in the midst of the 2018 Eurovision national final season, we knew for some time that Alex Papaconstantinou had an “ethno-pop banger” ready for Cyprus. But who would sing it? Various names popped up, and Helena Paparizou was reportedly on the brink of committing to represent Cyprus in Lisbon. In the end, she declined the offer and Fuego went to Eleni Foureira.

In a brand new interview, Helena explains that she “loved the song from the very beginning” but it was not the thing to do at “this moment in her life”. Furthermore, she reveals that she believes Eleni was perfect for the song and could’ve easily won! Check out the full interview below.
