KiKA has announced it will broadcast two shows which will follow the audition process to select Germany’s act for this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw. It is possible that these shows could coincide with the announcement of Germany’s artist for their debut appearance in the contest.
The shows will be broadcast on 1 September and 2 September and will mark the beginning of Germany’s road to Warsaw, as they prepare for their first ever year in the contest.
Who will audition in “Das Casting”?
The broadcaster will air two episodes of “Junior Eurovision Song Contest – das Casting”. Each of the shows will focus on a separate day of auditions. In the shows, we will see the selected finalists try to impress a panel of jurors.
On the KiKA website, the show’s descriptions says, “Which talent will represent Germany in Warsaw in November?”. This suggests that we could find out during the show who will represent the nation. Until now, no date had been confirmed for when the German act would be announced.
As previously announced, two-time “Dein Song” finalist Levent Geiger will write and compose the German entry for the contest. He will also act as a mentor, assisting and guiding the act, throughout the process.
Junior Eurovision 2020 – what we know so far
Junior Eurovision 2020 will take place on November 29 in the Polish capital of Warsaw. The slogan for the show is ‘Move The World’. Following Viki Gabor’s victory on home soil in 2019, this will mark TVP’s second consecutive time hosting.
Note, unlike previous years, the show is due to be held in a TV studio, rather than an arena. The host venue is yet to be confirmed. However, both the ATM Studio or Transcolor Studio are in contention.
To date, the following countries have confirmed participation in the contest:
