🇳🇴 KEiiNO release new single ‘Transarctic Lover’

The trio have teamed up with Norwegian artist Sordal

Another weekend dawns and of course that means it’s New Music Friday! This week Eurovision 2019 televote winners KEiiNO release their first single since they covered the great Whitney Houston and the release of debut album OKTA. They have joined forces in the ultimate Norwegian supergroup with Sordal on ‘Transarctic Lover’.

Transarctic Lover

Out today is the latest single from Norway’s Eurovision stars KEiiNO. However this time they have company in the form of fellow countryman and folk/Americana singer Sordal (Stein Roger Sordal), who wrote the song with KEiiNO.

“‘Transarctic Lover’ is a modern Beauty & The Beast story about falling in love with someone you cannot picture yourself with. It’s literally about falling in love with an alien sea-monster with an impressive mojo.”

Tom Hugo, KEiiNO

Once combined with KEiiNO’s electronic Joik we have ‘Transarctic Lover’. Which sees the mojo of this supergroup tell a tale of an intense love for a sea monster. Maybe this is what happens on Norwegian Tinder, we’ll never know! But what this monster mystery does tell us is that the 80s are back and better than ever. This is very much the grungy underwater reply to ‘Black Leather‘. Clearly their fondness for Australia has stayed with them. Amongst lyrics dripping with suggestive watery innuendo are multiple Kylie references! All of this is wrapped in a melodic blend of electronic synths and Sordal’s Indie rock influence on KEiiNO’s usual style. Which of course wouldn’t be complete without Fred’s Joik to bind everything together.

Deep down low
Deep down below me
Moving slow
Like I am Kylie
I’m all soaked
Queen of the north-sea

Their platinum debut single, ‘Spirit In The Sky’ was nominated for ‘Song of the Year’ at the Norwegian Grammys and has won 4 Scandipop-awards. Since then the trio have toured from London to Australia, releasing hit after hit, such as ‘Praying‘, ‘Colours‘ and ‘Would I Lie‘ from OKTA. As well as receiving international recognition at the 2020 National Indigenous Music Awards.
