Rehearsal review
Rehearsing right now inside the Rotterdam Ahoy is Blind Channel performing “Dark Side” for Finland. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!
The performance looks pretty much the same as in UMK. The visuals on the LED screens are mainly the same as in UMK – the band members hanging upside down from the ceiling – as well as the position of the band on the stage. Joonas, the guitarist, is running around the stage, mainly performing on the bridges. New addition is video on the floor showing the singers with “JOIN” written on their palms, which they have used as a trend on social media to promote the song and the “dark side” movement behind it. Also some new footage is recorded to the end of the performance and it shows the singer Joel shirtless.
The colours are mainly red and blue, with lots of strobe lights. The band members have also painted their middle fingers red, after EBU banned them from putting their middle fingers up. The whole atmosphere is just like being in a rock concert, with the band also interacting with the audience. This will look amazing with the flags and people moshing along.
For the last run, they turn on the fire and there is a lot of it. We see some fireworks already on the first second and the fire appears throughout the performance.
