🇮🇹 Måneskin score second UK Top 10 hit with “Beggin'”

"I Wanna Be Your Slave" moves up one place to #6

Following the success of both “I Wanna Be Your Slave” and “Zitti e buoni” in the UK charts, Eurovision winners Måneskin have now scored a second UK Top 10 hit with their cover of “Beggin'”. This marks the group’s fifth consecutive week of having at least one song in the UK Top 40.

“I Wanna Be Your Slave” has also moved up one place to number 6 in the charts. The song is now only one place away from entering the Top 5 – which is currently made up of songs by Olivia Rodrigo, KSI, The Weeknd, Doja Cat & SZA and Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix. Further down the chart, their winning entry “Zitti e buoni” has also gone back up 6 places to number 51.

Double success in the charts

After becoming the first Eurovision winners since Céline Dion to get a non-Eurovision winning song to the UK top 10 last week, the success seems to be continuing for the Italian group. This week’s chart placing in the UK means that their cover of The Four Seasons classic has now become a top 10 hit in 13 countries. In both the Czech Republic and Germany, the song has reached Number 1.

“I Wanna Be Your Slave” has also reached a new peak position of number 6 this week as the song moves into its fourth week in the Top 40.

The Official Charts Company have also noted on Twitter that 1974 winners and global pop sensations ABBA never scored two UK Top 10 singles in the same week, despite scoring 9 UK Number One singles throughout their time in the charts.

Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021

After winning Sanremo in March, Måneskin went on to represent Italy at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam with their song “Zitti e buoni”. As a member of the Big Five, Italy didn’t participate in the semi-finals and therefore only performed in the Grand Final.

After an exciting voting segment, Italy was announced as the winner with 524 points – their first win since Toto Cutugno in 1990. Scoring 206 points from the juries and a further 318 televoting points, Måneskin finished 25 points ahead of France’s Barbara Pravi who finished as runner-up with 499 points.
