Tanxugueiras lost their lead the day before predictions closed

Over the last past few weeks, you have been submitting your predictions for the third round of Eurovision Prediction 2022. In our third national final of the season, you were asked to predict the winner of Benidorm Fest. Now, let’s take a look at who you collectively expect to win the Spanish ticket to Turin!

Over the past week, 14 acts became 8 in a dramatic round of eliminations, withdrawals and quarantining. Following two semi-finals (on Wednesday and Thursday evening), tonight’s final will take place in Benidorm’s the Palau Municipal d’Esports.

The running order for tonight is as follows:

  1. Rayden – “Calle de la Llorería”
  2. Tanxuguerias – “Terra”
  3. Varry Brava – “Raffaella”
  4. Chanel – “Slo Mo”
  5.  Rigoberta Bandini – “Ay Mama”
  6. Xeinn – “Eco”
  7. Gonzalo Hermida – “Quién lo diría”
  8. Blanca Paloma – “Secreto de Agua”

The winner will be determined using 50% public voting and 50% jury voting. The public vote will be formed of 25% public televote and 25% demoscopic jury. The demoscopic jury is formed of members of the public from a range of age groups and backgrounds.

The jury vote will be determined by the following:

  • Estefanía García – Coordinator of the RTVE Orchestra and Choir
  • Felix Bergsson – Head of Delegation for Iceland at Eurovision
  • Marvin Dietmann – Creative Director
  • Miryam Benedited – Choreographer
  • Natalia Calderón – Singer, actress and vocal coach

Let’s take a look at who YOU predict they will choose!

Notably, prior to the semi-finals, Tanxugueiras had been leading for the entire round. However, yesterday, on the final day of predicting, the lead dramatically changed, with many players jumping ship to Rigoberta.

Last year, over 2/3 of our players correctly predicted which of the two Blas Canto songs would be picked in last year’s ‘national final’.

Back in 2019, over 60% of our players expected María to win the OT Gala with “Muerdéme”, with less than 20% predicting Miki’s eventual win with “La venda”.

Members of the ESCXTRA team may be disappointed by this result, as they selected Tanxugueiras’ “Terra” as their winner in our XTRA Decides feature.

After each national final, the points will be assigned and you will receive a rankings update via our Eurovision Prediction platform. Furthermore, we will make sure to notify you via our Eurovision Prediction Facebook page, our Eurovision Prediction Twitter page and here on the ESCXTRA website. The player that accumulates the most points after all the rounds have taken place will be crowned the winner of Eurovision Prediction 2022!

In 2021, our 363 prediction players predicted the correct national winners 7 out of 13 times. The year before, in 2020, 10 of out 27 times…an all-time low. To be fair, 2020 was a very unpredictable year in general. In 2019, our Eurovision Prediction players collectively predicted 16 out of 29 national final winners correctly. In 2018, your record was 19 out of 30.

So far, we count 26 national finals for 2022, so there will be PLENTY of points up for grabs!
