Dora and Eurovision
Dora, the Croatian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, had been held annually since 1993, up until 2011. The competition was created as a way for the country to select its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. It returned as the selection method for Eurovision in 2019.
Over the years, Dora has become a beloved and highly anticipated event in the Croatian music calendar, attracting a wide range of talented artists and drawing in thousands of fans and spectators each year. The format of the competition has evolved over time, but its core purpose remains the same: to showcase the best and brightest musical talent from Croatia and to determine the country’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Last year, Mia Dimšić won Dora with “Guilty Pleasure”. She however failed to qualify for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. This means Croatia have now had four consecutive non-qualifying entries, with Jacques Houdek in 2017 being their last qualifier.
