The preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel are in full swing. On December 16, the organizing team unveiled the stage design, visual and audio identity, ticketing process, and key partnerships as excitement builds for the 69th edition of the world’s largest music event.
“Welcome Home” to Switzerland
Returning to Switzerland after 36 years, the Eurovision Song Contest will take place from May 12 to May 17, 2025. Basel and the entire country are gearing up for an extraordinary celebration of music, unity, and creativity.
The visual identity of ESC 2025, titled “Unity Shapes Love”, was developed by Art Director Artur Deyneuve. Inspired by Switzerland’s tradition of direct democracy, the concept centers around listening and connection. The Eurovision heart symbol will appear as pulsating visuals, representing dialogue and the unifying power of music.
“If we listen to one another, we find love,” Deyneuve shared.
Co-Executive Producers Moritz Stadler and Reto Peritz also spoke about the design: “The Eurovision heart beats in time with the rhythm, symbolizing the unifying power of music.”
Audio Identity: Swiss Tradition Meets Modern Beats
The 2025 ESC audio identity merges modern, energetic beats with Swiss heritage. Traditional sounds—yodelling, Basel drum corps, Hackbrett, and alphorns—blend seamlessly with a bold, high-energy track to create an unforgettable soundscape.
“We’ve crafted a track with pumping beats and surprising musical effects,” said Deyneuve.
Stage Design: Inspired by Switzerland’s Peaks and Diversity
Renowned Production Designer Florian Wieder—returning for his eighth Eurovision stage—has crafted a design inspired by Switzerland’s mountains and its linguistic diversity. Hosted at St. Jakobshalle, the immersive stage will offer fans a chance to feel like a part of the Eurovision action.
“Our goal was to create a revolutionary stage concept,” said Wieder. “This will be a holistic experience that’s never been seen before at Eurovision.”
Stadler and Peritz lauded Wieder’s work as a “signature stage” that will leave a lasting impression.
Ticketing and Registration
The official ticketing partner, Swiss platform Ticketcorner, will handle ticket sales for the nine live shows, including Semi-Finals on May 13 and May 15, and the Grand Final on May 17. To prevent reselling, fans must pre-register for tickets at www.ticketcorner.ch/esc between December 16, 2024, 4 PM and January 10, 2025.
Tickets will go on sale starting January 29, 2025, with prices ranging from CHF 40 to CHF 350.
On the day of the Grand Final, Basel’s St. Jakob Park will host an “Arena Plus” public viewing event with a special program to accommodate fans unable to attend in person.
Swiss Businesses Step Up
National partners include Novartis, Basler Kantonalbank, Helvetia, and Swisscom, showing strong local support. The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) will provide 85 additional trains, offering discounted and eco-friendly transportation to and from Basel during Eurovision week.
Next Key Date: Semi-Final Draw
The next milestone will be the Semi-Final Draw on January 28, 2025, which will determine the participating countries’ performance order.
With its bold visuals, dynamic audio, and groundbreaking stage, Eurovision 2025 promises to be a spectacular “homecoming” for Switzerland—bringing together millions across the globe, united by music.
