Norwegian-born singer Emmy has been selected to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song Laika Party. The selection was made through Eurosong 2025, Ireland’s national competition, which took place on February 7 during a special edition of The Late Late Show on RTÉ One.
Emmy, whose full name is Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen, co-wrote the song alongside Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Henrik Østlund, Larissa Tormey, and Truls Marius Aarra. She won the competition with a total of 34 points, receiving the top score from both the national jury and the public vote.
The competition featured six finalists, with the results determined by a combination of votes from a national jury, an international jury, and a televote. Samantha Mumba finished in second place with My Way, earning 26 points, while Bobbi Arlo placed third with Powerplay, scoring 20 points. The remaining competitors included Reylta with Fire and Niyl with Growth, who each earned 18 points, and Adgy with Run into the Night, who finished in sixth place with 10 points.
Ireland, which holds the record for the most Eurovision victories with seven wins, has struggled in recent years but saw a resurgence in 2024 when Bambie Thug placed sixth with Doomsday Blue. Emmy will now aim to continue that success as she prepares to compete in the the Second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 15 May 2025, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland.
