We will be providing a live stream throughout each and every day of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 as well as reports from every rehearsal that takes place over the two weeks. WATCH: Elina Nechayeva would be happy to inspire the young generation

Estonia’s Elina Nechayeva joined us on our livestream to chat with the fans, and talked about how she would be love to inspire a new, young generation! When we mentioned to Elina about inspiring children to get involved in opera, and making them realise that it doesn’t have to be classical, Elina said: That would be nice, I would be really happy for that to happen and bring more people into classical music. WATCH: Ieva will go with whatever language her heart wants her to sing in

Lithuania’s Ieva Zasimauskaite joined us on our livestream to talk about her rehearsal and her plans for after Eurovision! In her rehearsal, Ieva sung the last two lines in different combinations of Lithuanian and English each time. When asked if she had chosen which language she was going to sing in, Ieva told us: I don’t know, I think I will do what my heart says in that moment. She also agreed with us when we mentioned that for many non-Lithuanian speakers, it will seem that Ieva is saying the same line twice – once in Lithuanian and once in English. The latest artist to rehearse for the second time is Benjamin Ingrosso for Sweden. We have just watched their latest run through of Dance You Off live on screen and here is our initial reaction. Staging This is an exact replication of Benjamin’s winning Melodifestivalen performance. The whole performance is filmed so that the LED lighting prop fills the entirety of the screen. Only for the final chorus do we get a couple of wider shots that show the lighting prop in the centre of the screen. Extremely effective as expected. Staging Laura is alone on stage and she works with the camera very well. The camera shots are on point and there are several times, the camera zooms in with the rhythm of the song. She also flips her hair around during the song and has a sassy attitude, which fits perfectly with the message of the song. The performance makes the song even better. Staging The Polish performance hasn’t changed at all since the first rehearsal: The opening shot of the performance is Lukas, with an immediate switch to Gromee behind his DJ decks. Staging The three singers of Iriao are on stage and very calm. Not a lot movement going on. It fits perfect for the song. They walk about around and change positions, but most of the time they stand in one line. Camera work is good. Not too many shots, which would not be good for the song. Staging There are no substantial changes for this rehearsal. Jessica seems to be performing more arm choreography throughout the track, reminiscent of the moves she performs in both “Sea of Flags” and in the “We Got Love” music video. Staging The staging for the Netherlands is the exact same as in the first rehearsal…yes, the bizarre dancing has been kept in the performance. As a reminder: Waylon is joined by four dancers on a podium. He is standing a bit higher than the others.
