Second semi qualifiers draw their Grand Final halves

Second semi qualifiers draw their Grand Final halves

At the press conference of the second semifinal qualifiers, the lucky ten have drawn their halves for the Grand Final of the Eurovision. Six ballots for the second half were left, meaning the other four would draw the first half. The first half After what felt like an overwhelming first half drawing on Sunday and Tuesday, there were just four slots left in the first half. Many of the songs drawn there up until now were ballads. It’ll be interesting to see who the EBU choose as Grand Final opener after the following four acts drew a first half ballot:  Serbia: Sanja Ilic & Balkanika – Nova Deca  Ukraine: Mélovin – Under The Ladder  Norway: Alexander Rybak – That’s How You Write A Song  Slovenia: Lea Sirk – Hvala, Ne The second half The two top favourites for Eurovision victory were already in this second half. Both Cyprus and Israel managed to pick the second half. Six others joined them tonight. Those six are:  Moldova: DoReDoS – My Lucky Day  Hungary: AWS – Viszlát Nyár  Sweden: Benjamin Ingrosso – Dance You Off  Australia: Jessica Mauboy – We Got Love  Denmark: Rasmussen – Higher Ground  The Netherlands: Waylon – Outlaw In …

Despite a few bum notes here and there, most of tonight’s acts did quite well. At the end of the evening, the following ten qualified: Serbia Moldova Hungary Ukraine Sweden Australia Norway Denmark Slovenia The Netherlands The shock was felt in the arena once both Serbia and Slovenia had made it through. The Netherlands were once again left as one of the final envelopes. The relief was visible on Waylon’s face before his country was called out. These qualifiers mean we also say goodbye to eight countries. Both Romania and Russia have lost their 100% qualification record. Poland, who have qualified on every occasion since their return in 2014, also miss out. Also missing out are Montenegro, Latvia, San Marino, Malta and Georgia. Drawing halves The draw of the halves will take place later …
