With the deadline for submissions for Vidbir 2022 approaching, reports of rumoured entrants have been coming thick and fast. According to Suspilne, 120 entries had been received with three days before the deadline. The list of those who are reported to have submitted songs includes some well-known names in the Ukrainian music scene, and a former Junior Eurovision representative.
Yesterday, Suspilne revealed via Facebook that a total of 120 applications have been received so far to compete in Vidbir 2022. Submissions opened on December 14, and are due to close on Monday 10 January.
According to Ukrainian news site Muzvar, the following artists have submitted songs:

- Eria
- GORIM!
- hurtom
- IDXO
- LAURA MARTI
- Michael Soul
- Nazar YA
- ROXOLANA
- SOWA
- Uliana Royce
- Wellboy
- Sophia Ivanko
- Sophia Shanti
- ТОНКА
Fans may remember Sophia Ivanko, who represented Ukraine at the 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song “The Spirit of Music”. She co-wrote her entry, which finished 15th with 59 points. Now 16, the talented singer-songwriter is eligible for the selection.
The site also reports that songs have also been received from singers in Hungary, Germany and Armenia. The shortlisted participants are due to be announced by January 24.
Ukrainian broadcaster Suspline has taken over the organisation of the Ukrainian Eurovision selection, after its 6-year partnership with STB ended. The dates for Vidbir are yet to be confirmed.
Ukraine at Eurovision 2021
GO_A originally won their spot to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2020 with “Solovey” after winning Vidbir. Following Eurovision’s cancellation in 2020, UA:PBC quickly announced that Go_A would return to represent Ukraine at the 2021 contest in Rotterdam with “Shum”.
Ukraine’s return to the Eurovision following their 2019 withdrawal was a success, with GO_A finishing 5th with 364 points, placing 2nd with the televote behind overall winners Måneskin.
