RTSH open submissions for Festivali i Këngës 61

The dates for the festival have yet to be announced

Albanian broadcaster RTSH has opened song submissions for the 61st edition of Festivali i Këngës. This is far earlier than the submissions window for last year’s edition, which opened in October.

Earlier this week, RTSH opened the submissions window for Festivali i Këngës 61 entries. Festivali i Këngës has been used to select Albania’s Eurovision entry since 2004.

The submission must be the final version of the song and cannot exceed 4 minutes in length, accompanied by:

  • An instrumental with backing vocals
  • An instrumental without backing vocals
  • The full lyrics of the song
  • The names of the composers and songwriters
  • Photos of the artist and a biography

Entries can be submitted directly to the Zyrës së Protokollit at the RTSH studios in Tirana, or submitted via email to [email protected].

Albania at Eurovision 2022

Back in December 2021, Ronela Hajati won Albania’s Festivali i Këngës with “Sekret”. As is common for Albania, the song underwent a revamp ahead of Eurovision. Having flown to London to record the new version, she released the music video in March.

In Turin, Ronela opened the first semi-final. She placed 12th with 58 points, ranking 9th with televoters. This marked Albania’s first non-qualification since 2017. In the 24 hours following the semi-final, she accumulated the second-highest number of YouTube views.
