As Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2021 continues with its heats, last year’s winner Ulrikke Brandstorp has said she would like to return in the future. Ulrikke was offered a finalist slot in this year’s selection, but declined the invitation.
Many fans were disappointed to hear that Ulrikke would not be returning to Melodi Grand Prix 2021 to defend her title. However, as she stated in her statement last year, she would love to return in the future, just not this year.
She reiterated this intention via her Instagram story this week, as reported by Eurovoix:
I would love to be a part of MGP and Eurovision once again, but not this year and probably not next year. But one of my biggest dreams is to win Eurovision, so of course [I would].

Ulrikke’s busy year
Following her MGP win, Ulrikke had a good year in her native Norway. In the summer of 2020, she was invited to perform on the Norwegian music show Allsang på Grensen. She sang her Eurovision 2020 entry ‘Attention’ she was joined by the Villekulla group of young singers.
She also released a new single “What Would You Do For Love?”, and then later released her debut Christmas album Spend Christmas With Me.
On top of this, she snatched yet another trophy on prime time Norwegian television. In December, she was crowned the winner of the first season of ‘Maskorama’, the Norwegian edition of ‘The Masked Singer’, as ‘the troll’. Will we see her reclaim her MGP title in 2021? Watch this space!
