Carlo Conti to Lead Sanremo for 2025 and 2026

Carlo Conti has been officially announced as the artistic director and host of the Sanremo Festival for 2025 and 2026, Rai state broadcaster confirmed on Wednesday, May 22. The Florence-born presenter, aged 63, will succeed Amadeus, who has concluded a highly successful five-year tenure.

Conti, a familiar face at Sanremo, previously served as both artistic director and host from 2015 to 2017. During his past tenure, he was instrumental in spotlighting artists who have since risen to prominence in the Italian music scene. Now, Conti is set to bring his expertise and distinctive style back to Italy’s most celebrated music festival.

“The pleasure is all mine. I return to Sanremo after seven years, hoping to continue the great work done by Baglioni and Amadeus,” Conti shared during an interview on Tg1. He expressed his enthusiasm for the role, highlighting it as a fitting way to mark his 40th anniversary with Rai.

The decision to appoint Conti was unanimous among Rai’s top management, including CEO Roberto Sergio, General Manager Giampaolo Rossi, and Prime Time Entertainment Director Marcello Ciannamea.

Amadeus, Conti’s predecessor, leaves a notable legacy characterized by record-breaking audience figures and musical successes. Reflecting on his new role, Conti acknowledged the high bar set by Amadeus and emphasized his commitment to maintaining the festival’s tradition of excellence. “We need to get to work on the regulations, then think about the songs from both young and established artists,” he noted.

Preparations for the 2025 edition is already in motion, with Conti planning to introduce fresh and exciting elements while honoring the festival’s rich history. Fans can look forward to a blend of tradition and innovation, showcasing the best of Italian music talent.
